Are you a student looking for impressive experience to add to your college application and/or résumé? Come and intern for the Schmidt Family Reunion & Schmidt Fest: Germany in Spencer! Be part of the behind-the-scenes work breaking a Guinness World Record and putting together an unforgettable mass event for thousands of family members. Intern from the comfort of your own home, from now until July 31, 2016!

Internship Description:

  • 9 hours/week (approx. 1½ hours/day, Monday-Saturday) time commitment
  • Volunteer position (no financial compensation)
  • Work from home on Schmidt Reunion & Schmidt Fest social media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.)
  • Make at least one Facebook post per day on the Schmidt Family Reunion and Schmidt Fest Facebook pages
  • Make at least two Tweets per day on the Schmidt Family Reunion and Schmidt Fest Twitter accounts
  • Make at least one Pinterest pin per day on the Schmidt Family Reunion and Schmidt Fest Pinterest accounts
  • Be our designated Reunion Journalist covering events live and posting via social media all day July 30-31, 2016 at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Spencer, Iowa


  • Must be 14-29 years old
  • If under 18 years old, must have parental/guardian approval
  • Must be either enrolled in high school or college, or intending on enrolling in the future
  • Must own a computer and have access to the Internet
  • Must have good familiarity with social media networks, including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.
  • Must have excellent spelling and grammar skills
  • Preferably have graphic design abilities
  • Must act professionally and represent the Schmidt Family positively in social media posts and interactions
