Decide the Official Schmidt Family Crest

For the last several centuries, wealthy European families received official family crests from the authorities for noble deeds, academic achievement, or exceptional service to one’s ruler. Our Schmidt ancestors were humble, hard-working peasants in a tiny village called Machtlos, hidden away in the dense Wildeck Forest. As such, they were never recognized in this way. 1. Might it be wise to have a committee outside of the family evaluate the crests? Perhaps include the graphic designer of whom you spoke. Just a thought.

  2. Second thought… Having the family select online would keep the entire crest project within the family members. That is sort of a neat concept!
